XL- Weight Loss... Leg One Complete!

How's that for finding an applicable "X" title?

Feb 1- April 28th
So, I'm going to go ahead and consider leg one of my personal weight loss challenge complete. I'm still sitting at 195 lbs, and while I'd love to have dropped more since the "I" post with my update, I'm excusing myself. This month was a whirlwind, with somedays not even being able to eat a real meal (until dinner at 8:30pm- the time when I get home). Being able to step away for lunch is a big component to loosing weight, and I'm honestly lucky I haven't gained instead.

May 11 - July 4th
Leg two will continue on after returning from vacation on May 11th, and continue on to July 4th. I hope to reach 185 lbs by July 4th, only 10 pounds from where I am now, which is completely attainable.

July 7th - September 4th
Leg three will go from July 7th through September 4th. and I want to get to 170 lbs by my birthday on September 4th. 15 more pounds to get to my goal weight, discussed in this post from March.

But.... aren't you going on a vacation?
I will be enjoying food on our vacation (only three days!) and won't be only eating salads and broiled chicken. I wrote a whole post dedicated to a hotdog stand we plan on visiting in Vancouver, so I don't expect weight loss to happen. I'm hoping to stay the same, since the hiking, biking and gym on the ship will help.

The articles below offered a few ideas, but most were common sense for anyone who's been on a cruise ship before (we all know how cruises can make us fat). The general gist is that they give you every opportunity to gain weight, but eat smarter and don't lay around like a potato.

Wish me luck (in making good decisions) and hopefully another good report will come in a few months!

So tell me....
Are you attempting to loose weight for the summer?
Are you writing about your progress, or keeping it hidden away?

  1. Wow, you are making great progress! And I think your vacation diet-pause is a great idea. It's not like we're getting ready to weigh in for the biggest loser or something, so I hope you enjoy the vacation and don't worry about anything! I'm doing dietbet (the 6 month / lose 10% challenge). Although I'm not talking about it much on my blog, I do have money on the line which is keeping me accountable!

    1. Thanks! Think I'll look into that dietbet, I've never heard of it but anything to keep me accountable is a good thing!

  2. Good luck. Making healthy changes for life, not just to lose weight is the way to go. Diets don't work, but life style changes do.

    1. Thanks. Agree 100%, being aware of what is in the food I eat is the biggest reason I've avoided going back up.

    1. Thanks Kelly- It's so easy to loose steam along the way, but getting some encouragement helps :)

  4. Good luck with your weight loss! It seems like you have a realistic timeline which is a great start! I'm going on vacation in 5 weeks and I'm dying to lose some weight before we go! I know I'll end up gaining when I'm there, always do on every vacation! I look forward to following along with your journey!

  5. A great idea to lose weight in legs. That makes it so much more manageable. I lost fifty pounds a couple years ago and sadly gained ten back. I like this technique.

    1. It definitely is not as 'scary' sounding. Loosing 20 lbs (then 10 lbs, then 15) sounds a lot better than 45!
