Pacific Coast Dreaming

Ack. Sick all this week, I'm blaming the (recently wonderfully warm) weather, the weather I can't enjoy. I'll survive but I'm ready for May 1st.

To quote Mama Cass:
All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk on a winters day
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A.
California dreamin', on such a winters day.
  "California Dreamin'"
True that.

We're flying to Los Angeles and taking a cruise up to Vancouver, and then Amtraking back to Seattle.

Tom didn't get to stretch his planning muscles much last year (I kind of forbade him from running us all over on our honeymoon). He didn't even get to rent a car, his favorite part of travelling.

And, while last year we basically just went on the cruise the entire time, this year we're sandwiching it between two days in Los Angeles and 2 days in Vancouver/Seattle.

This is our first non-beach vacation, and of course that means a lot of planning. With our typical vacation, we'd look up all the beaches and kind of choose one a day to visit. Get some fried food from a vendor there and then lounge all day.

We might be starting in southern California, but the waters won't be warm as bathwater. My beach-snob husband said they will be too cold compared to Puerto Rico's beaches. I'll figure something out, maybe throw him off a pier and jump in afterwards.

Ok, so we need suggestions. Even if you're just clicking through, please leave a suggestion below (especially for Victoria BC, and Seattle).

May 10-Fly back to New York

It's being referred to as the Anniversary cruise (versus the previous engagement and honeymoon cruises). Only 3 weeks early, but not really early enough in my opinion. It's never too early to celebrate our anniversary right? I guess you can argue that for anything awesome :)

So, any recommendations? Where would you go?
