Apple Picking Roadtrip

On Saturday, we decided to rent a car and pick some apples at Fishkill Farms.

Whenever we need to rent a car, we take the subway and connect to NJ Transit or the PATH train. NJ car rental prices are steals compared to Manhattan/NYC rental rates. I prefer to think of us as going that far out of our way to get a steal, versus us going that far out of our way to get what we should pay, except that NYC overcharges everything so much that we are pretty much forced to get up at the crack of dawn.

After barely missing our bus to Rutherford, we made it to NJ, got the rental, and drove back to Brooklyn. To get the in-laws. And coffee. And phone charger.

And finally, we hit the road! Where I fell asleep, but I promise that it was a beautiful trip, and the perfect day to leave the city behind.

Tom and his mother, 2 of a kind. Both were up in the trees, getting us the good apples.
And surprising up with some bugs in our faces instead. Not cool.
We got to see some bunnies! My favorite animal, and the best part of my day.
Need to get some more bunnies in my future.
The line for the Apple Donuts was the most daunting part of the day.
The smell beckoned us, it was intoxicating.
An hour after getting into the line- Tom, his father and aunt finally made it to the counter.
And they had run out of donuts.
Kidding.
The view.
I love that this summer we've been able to do several roadtrips, and this fall the trend is seeming to continue. And my in-laws are still awesome, and great road-trip companions.

  1. What a beautiful set of photos. I especially like the 2nd photo, maybe because it cleanses the palate after that first scary photo! ;-)
