Opened Doors

Whenever one door closes another one opens.

That's how the saying goes, right? We had been trying to get pregnant for about 4 months when we learned that my husband's job was outsourcing his and several other departments in his company to Oregon.
Despite the troubling news and a somewhat uncertain future, we knew that we would keep trying to have a baby (versus putting it on hold). Knowing that it has taken a few years to get to this point, and knowing it could take a few more years of trying before we are blessed with a child. If strings were going to be tight, let them be tight.

God will provide, and something will turn up. When one door closes after all.

Last night I learned that the rest of the company (those who are staying in New York) are moving to a the new office building tomorrow. And my husband is going with them. A door opened, because my husband hustled and promoted himself to other department heads, because God ordained it. And a position was created for him.

Proof that our time isn't best spent fretting over the how, but believing that all will be provided if you're willing to do some work. I thank God that he has provided me with an industrious husband who understands God's providence in his life but also understand that we must be diligent in the opportunities we're given.

So tell me...
Where have you seen doors open for you?
Have you ever been shocked by a seemingly simple fix?

  2. We had a similar issue with my husband's job. He was getting really stressed, simply because of the bullying of one colleague. He was looking for another job while we kept praying to God to close the door and open another one if that was His plan. A few weeks later, that colleague resigned and my husband got his job position with a way better salary! So yes, I definitely believe in the saying 'one door closes, another one opens'. Praying for your ttc journey as well. We have been trying for 18 months now. Praying you won't have to wait that long. :-) God bless you. xx

  3. I've learned, the past few months, that God knows exactly what He's doing and why He's doing it....when we don't resist, things flow smoothly. So pleased for your husband. Wishing you all the best. Your FMF neighbour (Helen)

    1. Thank Helen, and you're right. We resist so much, and try to do things our way on our own time.

    1. It's a hard topic for some, but we are told we will reap what we sow. And what better place to see that in action that your own shop. Congrats on the startup!

  5. Farin, such good news for you. It just goes to show that we spend too much time worrying, when we should just be on our knees and trusting.

    1. Hi Linda! Yes, you are absolutely right. Trusting can be a hard thing, since society has us trying to control every aspect of every thing. Trusting in God is so foreign, even to us believers. Thanks for the encouragement!

  6. My husband, who is not a Christian (yet?), sees this all the time - he's a contractor and desires to work full time because he's always nervous about his next gig. God has ALWAYS provided a next gig, though, even if it came through at the last minute. In fact, the last full time job offer he got, he decided to turn down because of an ethics issue, which is so beautiful to me! Instead, God provided again. I pray with all my heart that my man sees the Hand of God in all these open doors!

    1. I showed this to my husband and he mentioned that you seem to exemplify the wife in 1 Peter 3:1 with this statement. To which I replied that you're blessed to have a receptive husband, one who is open to the prospect of giving his profession over to God, even if he isn't quite there yet. Praying for you, and your husband's great example!

  10. God is in control and when you think the devil is winning, he dives in, saves you and declares victory. Inspiring story. Thanks for sharing.

  11. Great news! Some how, things always seem to fall into place, even if it's not the place we originally intended. I love when God surprises! Blessings.
