We write based on a different letter, A-Z, every day except for Sundays.
And this year the theme is....
I've compiled a list of places, A-Z, where you should visit when you visit NYC this year. Or next year.
Or when you decide to be a hometown tourist (as we often do).
The places will be:
Well-known- Grand Central Terminal
Off the 'beaten path'- Highline
Somewhat Obscure- Manhattanhenge
Each post will include:
-History Lesson- Information about the place
-Tips and Tricks- from when I've gone or what I've heard from other travellers
-Basic Info- website, hours, phone and Tripadvisor link
-Directions- Public Transit... because when you are here you should get the whole experience. Including the subway!
Many who visit this site either live in the Northeast and regularly make their way to the city, or are from further away (Georgia, Texas, Washington, etc) and are always interested in the photos from around the city. And this month (due to sickness, migraines and a large period of time without a phone/camera) I'm featuring work some amazing photographers based in NYC that I found on Instagram.
Follow one (or more) of the following so you don't miss out!

So tell me..
Have you ever traveled to NYC, and wanted an insider's guide?
Where do you live, and what places would you recommend?

Oh I can't wait to read your posts! I have been to NYC many times but I'm not an insider. I can't wait to read your recommendations!
ReplyDeleteYes, please come and follow along! I'll be posting at 6am every day, the best place to see them would be Facebook or Bloglovin :) And for the ones you know well, leave a comment with your own tips!
Deletethis sounds so awesome, I can't wait to read all the fun and different places! I haven't heard of the A - Z challenge (except from you!), but it sounds like a cool idea, too!
ReplyDeleteI did it last year too, think I saw a few other NEB'ers participate. Guess we'll see in a few days if I'm the only one :)
DeleteFarin, not participating in the A-Z challenge this year, but good luck to you. Looks like you are doing some real research for this one, so look forward to your posts. I've been to Manhattan, seen a play, and also visited my daughter at West Point.
ReplyDeleteYes, but hopefully less rushing, compared to last year's A-Z challenge. I would write at 6am the day it was due. Hope to get these all compiled early :) I've never seen a play, one of the things that is easy to put off because we live here.
DeleteI've been to NYC a lot and traveled to many corners of the city, did many touristy things or just spent an evening there for an event. But there's always something to discover in the city so I look forward to these posts!

DeleteI haven't been to NYC since 2000, but it's a fun city to visit. I'm looking forward to your posts!
ReplyDeleteI remember coming in Dec 2001, and Ground Zero was still smoking. I can't imagine how much it has changed since 2000! Hope to see you throughout April :)
DeleteI have only been there one time for New Year's Eve in Times Square for an impromptu trip in my twenties!! I can't wait to learn more about this great city, and take notes for a future trip I hope to plan someday!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I bet that was an experience (one I hear can be a bit overwhelming). I hope you do come! Maybe we could do a networking event, and that people might find this guide useful in planning their trip :)
DeleteWhat a great idea! I was in NYC many years ago - LOVED it. Hope to come back someday. For now, I'll "go" with you via these blog posts.
ReplyDeleteGreat (and thanks)! I'll be posting at 6am every day, the best place to see them would be Facebook or Bloglovin :) I hope to see you then!
DeleteOh it's a good thing that I didn't get any kind of challenge like this. I've never been to NYC. I think that I would have a panic attack if I did go. I had a panic attack riding through the suburbs of Chicago. I'm not the best travel companion. Traffic freaks me out.
ReplyDeleteIt's not assigned, you can write about whatever you choose (I did last year on random topics, click A-Z in the list to the right!) and it went well. And I understand about traffic!! I am not the best copilot at night, and always spaz out when my husband is driving. You can at least come alone on the posts I put up here I guess :)
DeleteWhat a fun series! We have not yet been to New York... well, I haven't been - my girlie and hubby went while I was at a retreat for a couple of days when we were all vacationing on the East Coast but we have hopes of returning at some point so this will be a great help!
ReplyDeletePerfect! I always look up guides and tips when planning to go somewhere, hope this helps and inspires a trip! I'll be posting at 6am every day, the best place to see them would be Facebook or Bloglovin :)
DeleteOh gosh I've been so out of the loop! I had the idea of a theme in the back of my head and then bam, here it is the end of March already. Maybe my theme should just be travel :) Love yours! I think it will appeal to a lot of people who have never been to the city, and maybe us NYC veterans will even learn a thing or two!
ReplyDeleteI was worried I would forget about it but luckily it's all ready to go. And you really could've done an entire month on just your Seattle trip- so much content! Hope to remind your of some good trips and maybe you'll see something new for next time :)
DeleteYour post series in April looks very interesting! I've never been to NYC, but it would be a great break for me at some point! I'll have to stop back and read your insider's view. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you around in April then! I hope to give some help to those who might not have a local to bring them places. Online travel guides are best from locals :)
DeleteWhat a great idea! We live close enough to travel to NYC often, but we don't. Maybe your series will get us there more often! One can hope, anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great (and in summer, free/cheap) things to do that could fill up a day trip or two! Stay tuned :)
Deletethis will be a fun theme. I'll be in NJ sometime this summer so might make it to NYC. I've been there a few times. It's good to know the off-the-beaten-track places to visit.
