Dora and Life as a Symphony

1. When did someone last suggest you 'chill out'? Or, when did you last tell someone (or want to tell someone) to 'chill out'? Or, when did you last tell yourself to 'chill out'?
Hm. I'm the person to say 'chill out', along with an assortment of other things that he never says. I often find we have a different vocabulary, him growing up in NYC and me on a farm. I should actually start writing these things down, things like how I might buy a 'hoagie' from the deli, but Tom would buy a 'hero'.

2. What most recently caused your heart to melt?
Dora. When we returned from Atlanta, she did nothing for two days except sit on us/next to us/sleep between our feet. And purr. And climb on whatever took our attention away from her.
3.  "An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered." G.K. Chesterton-- Your thoughts? When did you last experience either an adventure or an inconvenience? How did you see it at first, as an adventure or an inconvenience?  Does it feel the same in hindsight?
It's too early in the morning for this question. Here's a photo of yesterday's sunset.
4.  A Wendy's Frosty, root beer in a frosty mug, or a frosted chocolate cupcake...of these three, which one is your favorite 'frosty' treat?
I would love a root beer float, 'frosted' mug not necessary. I used to work for Wendys, and don't find their Frosty's all that special, and I've never been crazy about cake.

5. Would you say your life so far this year has been more like a circus or a symphony? Explain why.
Symphony. Circus suggests that it is all random events, going haywire- which I don't really believe in. A symphony suggests that it has a design and was ordered to go where it went, and come full circle in the end. Everything I went through last year has improved my patience, outlook on life and reliance on God.

6. Since it's a 'snow day' here, what's your favorite song containing the word 'white'?
I can only think of 'White Christmas'.

7. If you had to leave the city you currently live in, what would you find the hardest to leave behind?
I would miss the convenience of everything. I have everything I need, within 5 minutes walking. Delis, pharmacies, even the Dunkin' Donuts are 24 hours, and 5 minutes walking from me. And,I  I would also miss public transportation. I enjoy being carted wherever I need to go, whether by bus or train or rail.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Migraines, again. Like clockwork, they come and stick around for 4 days, then fade. Yet another gift from the miscarriages, screwing with my hormone levels. Never having had these before last year, I'm still shocked when they arrive, but I'm learning to anticipate them.

So tell me...
How do you ease your migraines, if you get them?
Where do you live, and what would you miss if you moved?
Do you know any songs with the word 'white' in them that aren't from Christmas?

  1. White Christmas is the only song that comes to mind.

Hoping Dora is back to herself, again.

    Stay warm and God Bless!

    1. The clingy phase isn't that different from her normal self, just a bit exaggerated. But, we don't mind :)

  2. My daughter and SIL get migraines from time-to-time. My SIL just went on some kind of medication designed for depression that has helped her immensely. My daughter takes BC powder every time a bad one comes on.I love your answers to #5...great perspective!

    1. You know, I would consider getting it doctor-verified, but I know its cause. Wish I could get some relief though, and I just googled BC powder. Never heard of it before, but Google tells me it's for headaches. Any different than Excedrin?

  3. I'm sorry you suffer from migraines. I don't have any suggestions for relief, but hope you find something that works for you. Your sunset picture is gorgeous! I love a pink sky : )

  4. I live in a town where a bunch of old friends have congregated, and I would miss them if we moved. Also, it's very easy to walk everywhere- I love not needing to depend on the car! And now that you mention root beer, a root beer float would be amazing!
I like the adventure quote- it makes me think of times like when I had to spend the night in a train station in France- it was a HUGE inconvenience, but of course in retrospect, it's an adventure and a story to tell.

    1. Hm, that does sound like an adventure, and one I've actually imagined (being stuck in an airport) a few times. Definitely a story to tell :)

  5. Oh no I get migraines too! I do have a a prescription for Imitrex which I take from time to time. I alternate with Excedrin migraine, Aleve and aspirin! I usually try to chug water and then go to sleep (if I can!).

    1. Imitrex is another one I haven't heard of, but I drown myself in water too, hoping it's just dehydration (but it never is). Thanks, I'll look into that new medicine :)

  6. Oh gosh...for some reason when I get told to "chill out" it makes me 10 x angrier :). Maybe that's the redhead in me! Sorry you are still getting migraines lady! That's crazy they are still happening as a result of that! I've been shocked how long it take that HGC hormone to drop. Mine still hasn't hit zero and it's been a month!! Hang in there...I usually do cold washcloths over my eyes with Excedrin. I had the worst one of my life that sad day a month ago but they were able to give me some magic in the IV that made it go right away. So ....IV drip? xo

    1. It's not that I still have any HCG (which has been long gone) but my migraines come around because of sharp drop in estrogen around my period. Something I never had before, but I say 'since the miscarriages' because my having two pregnancies so close together seems to have changed how my body works. Longer, irratic cycles, pimples and extreme drops in estrogen. For the first 2 months after my last miscarriage I had a migraines nearly daily. But, I do love Excedrin. It does the job, and sometimes, a cup of coffee can help a light headache.
