I remember having last followed the show when I was in high school, when it was the 'new thing' and everyone was arguing about backing either Ruben Studdard or Clay Aiken. I remember that the students made signs, along the lines of "You'll be cruisin' for a bruisin' if you don't choose Ruben." And, when Clay won, no "bruisin's" were issued. Can't say I follow it anymore, but does anyone else remember that creepy song Clay Aiken put out afterwards? Every stalker must have nodded their head in agreement. If only they were invisible...
I've never eaten frog, I'm just not adventurous with my protein. I did eat alligator tenders in Florida a few years ago, does that count? Thankfully, I'm pretty sure Mark Twain is talking about tackling your most dreaded task first, to get it over with.
3. If you were going on safari, what is the number one animal you'd want to see?
Giraffe? I've never thought about it, I'd might actually be more interested in the scenery. Weird, I know.
4. January 21st is National Granola Bar Day. I know. Do you like granola bars? Chewy or crunchy? Your favorite flavor? How about regular granola? Let's exhaust this topic in honor of the holiday okay?
I'm not really into granola but I do know I hate the crunchy kinds that crumble everywhere and make a mess. And chewy just seem more satisfying. Who comes up with these "National" Days? How do I submit a day?
5. If only__________________________________________.
"If only" is a phrase I tend to avoid. If you are upset about the past, there's no sense in worrying over it. If you want to change something about yourself, get to it. Or is there another "if only" group that I'm missing?
6. You can add one item to your bedroom. What will it be?
Space! We live in small NYC apartment, and although this is the norm I still feel our bedroom should have more room. In contrast to some of the other city apartments, we're blessed to have a proper bedroom. We can even walk around the bed. Carefully.
7. What is one thing you've enjoyed about winter thus far? If it's not winter in your corner of the globe, what season is it, and what is something you've enjoyed about whatever season it happens to be?
Good question- despite still not loving the cold, I've enjoyed snow tubing the most. We went with the family this weekend on our 2nd Annual Snow Tubing trip (I'm all about creating 'annual trips!) and had a blast.

I'm flying to Atlanta tonight! The G3 Conference is Thursday through Saturday and Tom, his parents, sister and I are flying out tomorrow. We're excited to attend our first large-scale conference, all about the Gospel, Grace and Glory. We're excited to see all the speakers, some being Paul Washer, Steven J. Lawson, Voddie Baucham, James White, Tim Challies, and Josh Buice. I know Tom's been gearing up for James White, watching his debates on Youtube.
So tell me...
Have you embraced winter yet?
Have you ever tried alligator meat?
Do you follow any of the speakers mentioned above?
Do you follow any of the speakers mentioned above?
I've never had any 'exotic' meats! What did alligator taste like?? I had no idea today was national granola day, but I love granola! Haha I also would like to know who makes up these days and how we can make up our own :). Have a great time in ATL!
ReplyDeleteReally chewy, actually. I wasn't a fan, but did it for the novelty of being in the Everglades. Thanks!
DeleteI have tasted alligator, just eh. Enjoy your conference. I'm not familiar with that one, but I do hope you have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joyce
DeleteI live in North Jersey so we're basically dealing with the same winter. I'm really glad we haven't had any big storms (yet -_-) I absolutely hate shoveling. But I guess if you live in the city you don't have to worry about that :) I read somewhere we might be expecting an early Spring this year which would be AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteOur landlords do, any home or shop owners can get fined by the Sanitation department. But I agree- I hate shovelling. Horrible memories of shoveling out of a parking lots that hadn't been plowed yet.
DeleteI've tried gator meat and all I can say is BLECH! Not a fan! It's a texture thing for me. You're heading down to my part of the country! Have a wonderful time at the conference!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I did not like the chewy factor. Thank you!
DeleteGreat comments on the challenge, Farin. I do not follow the speakers mentioned for the G3 conference, but I'm sure they will be wonderful to hear. I'm in Texas, where we've had some unseasonably cool weather and some unseasonably warm weather the next day, so a yo-yo season. I like the warmer temps. I'm not an American Idol fan, but occasionally watch The Voice when nothing else is on that interests me.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't participate in the American Idol fanaticism, but everyone else did. I just remember it being a huge deal :) You should check them out if you're looking for some great speakers to follow!
DeleteI'm not familiar with those speakers. I have tried alligator and actually liked it. Winter--not so much.
ReplyDeleteWinter- not so much. Same here :) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWow New York City! I visited last summer & loved my five days there!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember that Clay Aiken thing.. I didn't watch that season or the first one. I became a fan in season 3 and stopped around season 9 (whatever year Scotty McCreery won.)
Take care!
Thanks for stopping by, and glad you had fun!
DeleteOh my... Alligator meat? I don't think I am brave enough for that. But I have tried frog legs, my husband tricked me into thinking it was chicken legs, I sort of believed him!
ReplyDeleteI like granola on yogurt rather than in a bar. Have a good trip!
Haha! I've gotten into a horrible habit of refusing 'mystery food' from my husband. Burned a few too many times :)
DeleteI have not heard of the above speakers. Today is Saturday..I hope your having a blessed time!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here wondering if anyone from our church has gone to this conference.
On another note, I love alligator tail, frog legs, venison, bear, rabbit, gopher(turtle), squirrel, quail,...:)
Wow! You've had all kinds of exotic meat. I've never had turtle, squirrel or quail. And there might be, it's in it's 3rd year and has definitely grown a larger following. Something like 750 attendees and 10,000 views online. Check out the archives on livestream if you'd like to see the speakers :)

No to alligator meat but I have tried frog and trust me, it was the WORST thing I have ever eaten.
